Every fall, I used to create the perfect color-coded calendar. Morning blocks, homeschool hours, content planning sessions—all neatly packed into my Google Calendar. By week two, I’d feel behind. Tired. Frustrated. Wondering: Why can’t I just stick to this?
If you’ve ever felt this way, I want you to know: you are not broken.
You are burned out from trying to live by systems that weren’t built for a body like yours.
In this week’s episode of The Voicekeeper Podcast, I’m sharing why routines don’t work for many of us—and what to create instead: a rhythm. One that breathes with your life, meets you in the messy middle, and anchors you back to yourself.
Routines Are Built for Systems, Not Souls
The productivity world thrives on rigidity: morning routines, hustle hacks, color-coded schedules. But women—especially those who are caregiving, healing, or leading soul-led work—are not linear. Our energy shifts. Our capacity fluctuates. Trying to conform to a rigid system often leads to shame and disconnection.
Instead of stacking your life around a fixed routine, what if you let your days follow a rhythm?
A rhythm that holds space for tired days, creative bursts, and the moments when life pulls you in other directions.
3 Ways to Root Into Rhythm Instead of Routine
1. Safety, Not Pressure
Rhythms help us feel safe because they allow for flexibility. When you start your day by asking, “What does my body need today?”—you can align your time to your truth, instead of just your tasks.
2. Follow the Cycles
You are cyclical. From the moon to your hormones to the seasons—your body and energy are always shifting. Aligning your rhythm to these natural cycles can create a more sustainable and nourishing life.
3. You Can Redesign Anytime
Rhythms aren’t set in stone. If your week shifts, you get to shift too. Whether your kid has a meltdown, you wake up with a migraine, or you just feel low—it’s okay to pivot. Rhythm allows for that.
A Gentle Check-In to Begin Your Day
To help you reconnect with your rhythm, here are 3 questions you can ask yourself each morning:
What do I need today—physically, emotionally, or spiritually?
What part of my rhythm feels like it’s working right now?
What can I release or rearrange to support myself better today?
Let these be a daily invitation to listen to your body, honor your needs, and move from a place of self-trust.
I’m building my work, home, and spiritual life around rhythm. It’s the foundation of everything I teach and hold space for inside The Voicekeeper Circle, my new membership for soulful women ready to live and lead with more ease and intuition.
