The Pause That Lets You Use Your Voice
A gentle practice for staying engaged without burning out
You’ve entered a field of remembering.
If you want to stay inside, receive each letter, and access private rituals + audio, the door is just below.
There are hard things happening.
And pretending they aren’t real doesn’t make them disappear.
But this is where our voices matter.
This is where community matters.
This is where remembering who we are and what we stand for matters most.
Hope isn’t denial.
Hope is choosing to stay present anyway.
But staying present can feel very overwhelming to our nervous systems, especially when it’s a constant disaster every time you turn your device on.
We may feel exhausted or have the overwhelming need to withdraw completely or doom scroll.
However, I want to challenge you today to pause.
Without a pause, we shut down, spiral or even lose clarity. I know I was feeling this deeply today.
With a pause, we can use our voices. We can choose how to engage and we stay human in the process.
Today I was feeling it all. We’ve hit the end of the week and waking up to yet another crazy thing happening in our country and with our incompetent government was too much.
I wanted to work on my book, but had a list a mile long that also needed my attention. And I could feel it in my body. I just wanted to lay down and disassociate.
So I paused. I went to my alter and cleansed my energy. I sat in my chair and drank my tea. What I didn’t do was doom scroll. I also gave myself person to only create content if it felt good for me.
And I want you to be able to pause as well. When we pause, we come back stronger.
The Stay Present Ritual
Staying present and pausing does not have to take a ton of time. With a simple practice, you can calm your nervous system and return to a state of intention. Give this a try and see how it works!
