Why I Wrote a Quiet Protest
My book releases on March 27th
I’m Caroline. The Voicekeeper. I hold space for women to stop abandoning themselves and come home to their voice. This is not a newsletter. It’s a homecoming. Subscribe if you feel the pull.
During the holidays, I had this wacky, crazy idea. I wanted to write a book around the framework I had created. The book was not meant for anyone but me. “I might publish,” I thought or I even tinkered with just selling a pdf on my website.
But then things changed. The world became even crazier. Journalists were being arrested and the conversation was changing. I was changing. I was becoming bolder in my posts and writing. I had been fed up with a world that told women to be quiet for a long time, but it seemed to be amplifying in so many ways.
I finished my book in about a month. I was laser focused and honestly, it all poured out of me so fast. It was the editing where I realized that it was more than a book about women finding their voices. It was an act of resistance.
Let Her Return is a book about how to trust yourself again. It is also about finding your voice. We need that now. Self-trust and strong conviction keep us from being manipulated as easily and the world is trying hard to manipulate us.
Part of reclaiming your voice is also using it to discern what you hear, see and believe. I see this disconnection in our society: people who give away their autonomy and power to others. What is happening in our country is a direct result of this.
My book is not huge, but it is a quiet protest. It’s my story: a story of a woman who lost herself to the world and then reclaimed herself again. It’s the story of a mom who realized the dream she had been fed for years was not the dream she wanted. And it’s a practice you can return to again and again when you are feeling lost in a world that wants you to be silent.
My book will officially be available for purchase on March 27th which is my birthday. I can’t think of any better way to celebrate.
And this isn’t the end. I’m working on a journal and started writing my first fiction novel which I hope to finish this summer.
